Una libélula de las grandes: un macho de Aeshna cyanea, patrullando en una zona alejada del agua dulce, posiblemente buscando hembras para reproducirse. Cada poco se posa a descansar, camuflándose muy bien con la vegetación. No es raro observar machos errantes de esta especie. Su ciclo vital puede durar entre uno y tres años.
